on recent Geodynamics of the Sudeten and adjacent Areas

Ramzová, the Czech Republic, October 20 – 22, 2016

The Institute of Geodesy of the Brno University of Technology of the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics, the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, and the Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics, Czech Academy of Sciences, are pleased to extend an invitation to the 17th Workshop on Recent Geodynamics of the Sudeten and Adjacent Areas that will be held in the village Ramzová  on October 20 – 22, 2016.

You are hereby invited to contribute your papers to this Workshop, which will be a unique chance to benefit from its scientific programme, to have a fruitful exchange of knowledge, to foster new friendships and to explore the potential of further scientific collaboration.

The Workshop will be held at the Andromeda in Ramzová, near the Lipová Spa (Ostružná, Ramzová 36, 78825  Czech Republic) situated in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts., on October 20 – 22, 2016.

Surroundings of the venue, the Jeseník region, is one of the quietest, remote and low-populated areas in the Czech Republic, with a scenic, well-preserved natural landscape, situated between mountainous Hrubý Jeseník and Králický Sněžník Massif in northern Moravia. Very near is located the NW-SE fault system, which  can be also observed further to the NW as Sudetic Marginal fault, one of the most important morphotectonic features of the region, limiting the Bohemian Highland on the NE and observable in the relief along more than 130 km. In the south, the Jeseníky mountains are delimited by the NW-SE faults forming system grabens – Kłodzko, Králíky and the Upper Morava graben.

The scientific programme of the 17th Workshop is focused on the topics concerning the recent mobility of the Sudeten and adjacent geological units:

  • Geodesy – crustal movements, GPS observations, precise levelling, gravity, InSAR technique, the Earth shape
  • Geophysics – seismic, seismology, stress and strain fields, geomagnetism, geoelectricity, heat flow.
  • Geology – neotectonics, neo-volcanology, geomorphology, remote sensing, brittle tectonics
